Healing Hands Wellness Institute focuses purely on health and wellness – promoting it by offering training in complementary therapy courses. Wellness is the state of health in body, mind, and spirit. Health can be defined as being free from illness or disease.
Complementary therapy is identified by various diverse terms: alternative therapy, alternative medicine, holistic therapy, health and wellness, holistic training and traditional medicine. An extensive variety of treatments exists under the term ‘complementary therapy’, which makes it difficult to offer an over-all definition. Complementary therapies are used in conjunction with conventional medical treatments. Although some therapies are grounded on principles that are not recognised by conventional medicine, it has been proven on evidence-based outcomes to be very effective for a multitude of health conditions.
The World Health Organization defines health as "not merely the absence of disease or infirmity, but a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being". Wellness has been defined more as the action an individual takes to meet the above definition of health. Wellness can be divided into 9 dimensions.
